six nights there with my adult daughter. Both the inn and the island
appeared to be much more than we expected. The second time I traveled to
Thoddoo with my husband and also stayed in Veli Thoddoo inn.
There is a beautiful, cosy and spacious backyard garden full of flowers
and fruit trees: a hidden gem behind the house. There we enjoyed
relaxing privacy and lovely atmosphere. Also the meals were served
there. Sitting in the garden where the floor is of white sand is an
unforgettable experience. Family members has also designed and built
inventive and joyful furniture for the guesthouse. We really appreciate
this kind of unique ideas.
We love the idea of Veli Thoddoo Inn. It is a guesthouse led by the
family: all family members are sharing responsibilities of running it.
It was lovely to hear the stories how all started and how it is going on
now. We met some family members and they all are very warm and
friendly. Above all we want to thank Azmy, who was hosting us during our
stay. He is very flexible, took good care of us and helped with
anything we asked. We enjoyed talking with him, hearing his stories:
history of Maldives, cooking, agriculture, tourism, nature and so many
other things. If you want to be hosted by someone who really does his
work by heart - travel to Veli Thoddoo Inn and meet Azmy. When traveling
we rarely have met anyone so genuine and hearty - and we travel a lot.
I have stayed overnight in altogether five different lodgings in
Maldives. Veli Thoddoo Inn Thoddoo Inn is the number one from them. The
bikini beach of the island was the best we visited. When I visited the
island second time, there was also another, very nice bikini beach.
Thoddoo island is also called as a fruit basket of Maldives - it really
is. And if you want to know anything about tropical fruits, ask Azmy. We
learned a lot that way.
All the meals were delicious; daily breakfasts and dinners. We chose
maldivian breakfast: it was always tasty and we got different versions
of it. Absolutely worth trying.
